Prayer of a Domestic Violence Advocate

Goddess, get me through this crisis, As you got me through yesterday’s And the one the day before. Goddess, watch over the women in this shelter, The ones who live here And the ones who work here. Keep them safe. Keep them strong. Give me the words to help, The words to comfort, The words to reassure and offer alternatives To each woman I see. Let my arms open wide enough To hold a woman in need, And let them be strong enough To hold on tightly. Let my shoulders be broad enough To handle the anger, the hurt And the confusion Of each abused woman that needs me. Help me to be strong when I lose one, When she NEEDS to go back To the man who sent her to me. Help me to wait patiently for her return And help me to offer my arms each time. Watch over me, dear Goddess. Keep me strong. Keep me focused. And thank you for this shelter And for giving me the opportunity To work here. Blessed Be © Connie Roush 2007 All Rights Reserved.
